Ghassan Assaf

Staff Care & Resilience Clinician

Dr. Ghassan Assaf serves as full-time Staff Care and Resilience Mental Health Clinician. Ghassan specializes in trauma, burnout, group dynamics and human relations.

Being a psychotherapist working with humanitarian organization since 2006 and in close contact with the challenges faced by staff working and living in stressful environments, Ghassan developed an understanding of the needs of humanitarian workers and, in 2012, he decided to make a shift in his career and became a staff counsellor for different organizations across the Mena region. He supported staff through onsite missions in Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Yemen, Djibouti, Sudan and South Sudan.

Ghassan earned his PhD in clinical psychology in 2017 from the Lebanese University and is a psychoanalyst, member of the International Psychoanalytical Association and the European Psychoanalytical Federation.
He is based in Lebanon and has his practice in Beirut. He values his time with his family and appreciates cooking, reading, swimming and fiction writing.
