Menno Wiebe

Managing Director

Menno Wiebe serves as the Managing Director at The KonTerra Group and has been in that position since 2019. He has been with KonTerra since its founding in 2007 and prior to assuming the Managing Director position he directed the Evaluation & Organizational Learning unit.

A humanitarian practitioner for more than three decades, his experience spans US domestic disaster response, development programming, and post-conflict recovery.

Menno’s commitment to an organization’s right to high-quality support services emerges from a family history of displacement and migration. Institutions – churches, transnational bodies (ICRC), and governments (Canadian, in his case) – were instrumental in opening doors to renewed lives in new places for his parents. Menno has lived and worked in Kenya, Somalia, Jordan, and Iraq, and has conducted shorter assignments in more than a dozen other countries. Prior to these international assignments, Menno directed a research program on conflict in the Horn of Africa at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies / Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, Canada.

Menno completed degrees in Religious Studies and History at the Canadian Mennonite University and the University of Winnipeg. He also studied at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute near Bethlehem in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. At home near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Menno is an ardent reader, enjoys choir singing, avoids social media, and strives to patiently wait for his home-grown tomatoes to fully ripen.
