Case Study: Leadership Development Program
Objective: In late 2011, IFPRI identified a need to develop a high-touch leadership development program, specifically designed for their Senior Management Team and other Senior Leaders within the organization. The objective being to further, and more formally develop leadership skills.
Solution: During early discussions, KonTerra consultants and representatives of IFPRI’s Senior Management Team identified specific skills that participants would develop over the course of the program and prioritized these skills based upon the unique challenges and opportunities facing the organization. Senior Leaders at IFPRI also involved themselves directly in the implementation strategy. The result was a customized ten-month program combining assessment tools for increased self-awareness and self-management, periodic workshops focused on key leadership skills, and a series of individual coaching sessions for each participant to reinforce learning.
Result: Our work together implementing the leadership development program ultimately resulted in IFPRI developing a solid framework and strategy for fostering the learning and growth of their leaders – present and future. The Leadership Development Program has established a foundation for success as IFPRI grows and plays a larger role in the international food policy arena.
